The Langara College Financial Aid Department responds to the needs of currently enrolled and prospective students by attempting to reduce financial barriers that might impede educational success. Students who find themselves in a financial dilemma or an emergency are advised to come to the Financial Aid Office, Monday to Friday between 1000 and 1600 hours, and ask to speak to an Advisor.
Important Notice About Deferring Your Spring 2012 Tuition Fees
The B.C. Ministry of Education pays tuition and fees directly to Langara College from all approved BC/Canada Student Loan funds (Daycare fees are exempt from this directed payment.) If the Student Loan funding is insufficient to cover tuition and fees, students must pay the difference to the College. Students must also pay the College or be refunded, when there are subsequent changes to study costs, resulting from adding or dropping courses.
Fee Deferrals
Students who have received approvals of their B.C./Canada Student Loans:
Students who have received approvals of their B.C./Canada Student Loans, in advance of the fee payment due date (December 17, 2011, before 2100 hours) will automatically receive deferral of their tuition and fees, and will not be dropped from their courses. Students should check their Langara College accounts online to see if this deferral is in place. It is very important to apply as early as possible for Student Loan funding- at least 3 months before the start of the semester of study is recommended.
Domestic Students without an approved Spring 2012 BC/Student Loan:
If you are a domestic student experiencing serious financial hardship, you may request approval from the Financial Aid Department for a Deferred Payment Plan, once you have paid a minimum of $150 for the upcoming semester. For the Spring 2012 term, application for the Deferred Payment Plan may be made in the Financial Aid office from November 25, 2011 to December 16, 2011, Monday to Friday, 10:30 am to 3:30 pm. Application forms can be picked up at the Financial Aid office or downloaded from the Langara College Financial Aid website (print form here). If you choose to fax in the form, please make the minumum $150 tuition payment before faxing to 604.323.5665. Students MUST confirm with the financial aid office that their completed form and deposit were received in our office by December 16th.
Students with approved out of province loan funding:
Students who expect to receive Student Loan funding from other provinces may apply to the Financial Aid Department for the Deferred Payment Plan, if by December 16, 2011, they can provide written documentation of approval and funds pending. If you are out of province during registration month, contact the Financial Aid Department to organize the Plan.
Students receiving sponsorship funding:
Students who expect to receive sponsorship funding will not be dropped for non-payment provided that they can provide written documentation of approval and funds pending to the Langara College Student Accounts Department (second floor, B building), not the Financial Aid Department. This must be done by the scheduled payment due date, December 16, 2011. Please contact the Financial Aid Department for further information regarding these changes.
Enrolment in half semester courses may not be eligible for Student Loans funding. See the Financial Aid office for options.
