Greenest Employer
In 2010, Compass Group Canada (the parent company of Chartwells), was named one of Canada’s Greenest Employers by the editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers project.Chartwells has developed many initiatives making them 'green' including:
- developing a sustainable seafood sourcing policy in 2008 through a partnership agreement with Ocean Wise, the Vancouver Aquarium Conservation Program. The policy commits Compass to shift from one unsustainable species to a sustainable species every six months.
- developing a formal program for sourcing food locally where possible, working with EatBC.
- Adding "Fair Trade Certified" coffee to menus and switching to "Green-Seal" certified environmentally friendly cleaning products.
