Langara's Journalism Program has earned a reputation as the top school for intensive, hands on training that leads to exciting careers in the media and related fields.  Students gain the varied skills important for success in a multimedia world.  Langara's graduates get jobs on daily and community newspapers, radio and TV stations, websites, magazines, and public relations firms. 

The college offers two programs:

1. a two-year Diploma Program that combines academic courses with journalism skills for high school graduates
2. an eight-month, post-graduate Certificate Program for those with university degrees.

In both programs, students experience the life of a reporter by researching, conducting interviews, writing stories, and shooting photos for the department’s weekly newspaper, The Voice.  Just like in the real world, students also file stories, take pictures and produce videos and podcasts for The Voice Online.  As students gain practical skills, they are promoted to the job of editor, assigning stories, editing, doing page design, editing photos, writing blogs and promoting their work through social media.

In the Diploma Program, students also produce the Langara Journalism Review, an annual magazine covering media issues and personalities in Western Canada.

All courses are taught by professional journalists with impressive credentials in print, broadcast and online media.
