Vancouver, BC – Langara College’s 56th annual convocation ceremonies were held at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre, on June 21-23, 2022. Over 1,200 Langara graduates from 136 programs crossed the stage last week to celebrate their momentous occasion.

The ceremonies kicked off on June 21 with a performance from Tsatsu Stalqayu Coastal Wolfpack in honour of National Indigenous Peoples Day. At each ceremony, members of the Wolfpack led the graduates, faculty, and platform party into Convocation Hall where theatre arts graduate Sofie Kane opened each event with the national anthem. A traditional Musqueam greeting preceded an address from President Paula Burns, a convocation address, and the presentation of the graduates.

Seven graduates received awards for their outstanding academic achievements and commitment to community service.

Langara proudly announced the conferral of the 2022 Emeritus Awards celebrating distinguished service. Emeritus is an honourary title given to retiring or retired faculty or professional staff to recognize their outstanding contribution to teaching, research, service, or leadership in their professional field. This year’s recipients were:
