Jun 3, 2011

As you may know, the Canadian Union of Postal Workers has served Canada Post with a strike notice. We anticipate that there may be some disruption to postal service as of June 2, 2011 due to this labour dispute.

The College is actively working to minimize the impact of the situation to our students, vendor partners, and community as follows:

For Students:

  • Official Transcripts
    • Submitting transcripts to Langara’s Admissions Office
Langara’s Registrar’s office is working with other Canadian post-secondary institutions to minimize the impact of the current postal strike to our students. To that end, we are accepting emailed or faxed transcripts sent directly from sending institution’s Registrar’s office provided official transcripts are supplied when postal service resumes.

Courier or hand delivery to the Registrar’s Office:

      100 W 49th Ave
      Vancouver, BC
      V5Y 2Z6

      Office hours:
Monday to Thursday 9am to 6pm
      Fridays 9am to 3pm

      F (604) 323 5590
      E admissions@langara.bc.ca

    • Transcript Requests to other institutions
Students may opt to have official transcripts couriered at their expense, based on the receiving institution’s requirements. Most post-secondary institutions have made arrangements to accept emailed or faxed transcripts but it is recommended that students confirm their institution will accept an email copy of their transcript.

Transcript Requests should be submitted as per the online transcript request form. Please provide email or fax details on the form and Langara will ensure that faxed or emailed transcripts are followed by an official transcript when postal service resumes.

Note: Transcripts to SFU and UBC are electronically submitted upon request. Delivery to these institutions is unaffected by the postal strike.
    • Requesting additional documents
Additional requests for documents will be held for pick up at the Registrar’s office between the hours of 8:30am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday. Students may also request courier service for a fee.

  • Graduation Parchments
    • Graduation parchments will be held for pick-up at the Registrar’s Office until July 15, 2011. They will be mailed out after that date unless the strike continues or the student makes other arrangements. To contact the Registrar's Office regarding parchments e-mail graduation@langara.bc.ca
    • Continuing Studies program completion certificates will be held for pick-up at the Continuing Studies Office until July 15, 2011. They will be mailed out after that date unless the strike continues or the student makes other arrangements.
  • Student Refunds
    • Student refunds may be picked up at the Cashier on the 2nd floor of B Building.
