Langara College and the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games
February 12–28, 2010
Langara College is proud to have been a part of the Community Contributor Program for the 2010 Winter Games. During the Games, the College provided essential services and resources to VANOC such as parking and classroom space.
Students and employees were able to fully participate in this once-in-a-lifetime experience, as Langara College adjusted its academic schedule for the 2010 Spring Semester. The Spring Semester is extended and most classes were suspended from February 12 to 28.
The Vancouver 2010 Torch Relay passed the College on February 11, 2010.Click here to view the Photo Gallery of the event. |
| This once-in-a-lifetime event was enjoyed by over 4000 people from Langara College and the Vancouver-Langara community. |
Our students, alumni, and staff were fully involved through volunteer, paid, internship, and co-operative education positions. For example, Rick Etkin, one of our Professional Photography graduates lent his expertise as the Supervisor of Photo Services for Mountain Venues. He coordinated and designed photo platforms at mountain venues to enable over 700 photographers to get the best shot and connected them to press around the world.
We are excited that we were able to play our part in supporting the 2010 Winter Games.
