Chaos ensues as two courageous Vancouverites, John (a humble Stanley Park employee) and Geena, (a rabid activist) attempt to collect 100,000 signatures before Gabriel does. Will they find a way to halt the destruction of their beloved park? This is a story about new beginnings, redemption and love, all set to music. Originally produced as a one-act in last season’s STEW, this reworked and rewritten version of The Park is now a full-length musical!

by William Shakespeare

January 27 – February 20, 2011

Directed By Scott Bellis

An hilarious and raucous comedy of mistaken identity - one of Shakespeare’s all time favourites. The Comedy of Errors tells the story of two sets of identical twins that were accidentally separated at birth. Antipholus of Syracuse and his servant, Dromio of Syracuse, arrive in Ephesus, which turns out to be the home of their twin brothers, Antipholus of Ephesus and his servant, Dromio of Ephesus. When the Syracusans encounter the friends and families of their twins, a series of wild mishaps ensue leading to a near-seduction, an arrest and out-of-control accusations of madness and demonic possession. Graduate Scott Bellis returns to direct having played Antipholus of Syracuse in the 1987 production at Studio 58.

RISKY NIGHTS #1 - WHAT A DRAG

October 12 - 17, 2010
A rumpus-filled investigation into the art of the fabulous

Directed by Cameron Mackenzie

Drag monarchs are our world's clowns. They grin their way through genders. They belt their sexuality. They clomp and stomp and strut their way over the bridge between society and tomfoolery.

For tickets to WHAT A DRAG call the Studio 58 Box Office 604.323.5227.

RISKY NIGHTS #2 - LA MAREA (The Tide)

January 18 - 22, 2011

La Marea is an outdoor, site specific performance conceived by artist Mariano Pensotti of Buenos Aires. Made up of nine different fictional scenes, audience members move freely from street corners to illuminated store windows, creating their own narrative. A man lies on the ground following a motorbike accident; an insomniac tosses and turns; a couple has their first kiss. Projected subtitles allow us access to the intimate thoughts of the characters in these poignant vignettes that showcase the beginning of love, the end of love, and everything in between.

La Marea will be presented free to the public, in the heart of Vancouver’s historic Gastown. Presented by Boca Del Lupo, the PuSh International Performing Arts Festival, SFU’s School for the Contemporary Arts, SFU Woodward’s, Langara College’s Studio 58, and Theatre at UBC.
