Overview
To assist and promote academic success of Aboriginal students, Langara College implemented the first formal Aboriginal Education Policy in British Columbia. The policy was implemented in order to increase the success rates of Aboriginal students and to increase the representation and retention of Aboriginal students.
Langara College offers Aboriginal students access to the following services provided by the Manager of Services for Aboriginal Students and/or Aboriginal Liaison Counsellor:
- College orientation
- Counselling - educational, personal and career
- Advocacy and liaison with band/tribal administration, sponsoring agencies, community resources, college programs and/or services
- Assistance with transition into Langara and/or transfer to other post-secondary institutes upon completion of studies at Langara College.
