Department Scholarships

Scholarships are awarded for academic merit. In order for the competition for scholarships to be as equitable as possible, an applicant must meet certain eligibility conditions. Please check with the Financial Aid Department for these conditions. As well, scholarship recipients must satisfy any donor requirements and generally must be Canadian citizens, landed immigrants, or conventional refugees with proof of status.

Langara College scholarships include the following:

  • General Scholarships that are available to Langara College students currently registered in a minimum of 12 credits and who were registered in a minimum of 12 credits in one of the past two semesters. Applications may be required, and can be obtained from the Financial Aid Department.
  • Departmental Scholarships that are normally available to Langara College students registered in a minimum of 12 credits and who were registered in a minimum of 12 credits in one of the past two terms. (Exceptional circumstances may apply.) Students receive the recommendation of program faculty when they meet specific scholarship criteria. Please check with specific departments to see if an application is required.

 


BUSINESS

ABDUL/ALMAS ALLIBHAI FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP IN ACCOUNTING is awarded to recognize academic excellence in the second year of the BBA program.  To be eligible for selection, the student must have completed 60 credits in the BBA program, including both FMGT1321 and FMGT 2421.  The recipient must also have declared an accounting concentration and be registered for either part-time or full-time studies in the BBA program.  The award will go to the eligible student who achieved the highest grade point average in the first two years of their BBA. (Fall)

BUSINESS MANAGEMENT SCHOLARSHIPS Three Spring scholarships are awarded to second term students enrolled in a minimum of 9 credits in the Business Management Diploma Program.
1) Student with the highest mark in BUSM 4200 -Strategic Management 
2) Student with the highest mark in BUSM 3200 -Operations Management
3) Student with the highest mark in BUSM 4100 -Project Management
One Fall scholarship is also awarded to recognize a final term Business Management team of students for excellence in business planning, who receive the highest mark in BUSM 2450.

CERTIFIED GENERAL ACCOUNTANTS ASSOCIATION ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE SCHOLARSHIP recognizes a student who has completed the 1st year of the Accounting Diploma Program and who is entering the 2nd year of the program. Student must demonstrate academic excellence. Award is applied to second year tuition. (Summer)

CERTIFIED GENERAL ACCOUNTANTS ASSOCIATION OF BRITISH COLUMBIA CONTINUING EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIPS recognizes two students graduating from the Accounting Diploma or Certificate Program who have demonstrated academic excellence. The award is in the form of tuition credits towards the CGA professional education program. (Summer)

HSBC BANK OF CANADA INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a BBA, Co-op (3 credits) or regular student enrolled full-time in the International Business concentration of the BBA program.  Recipients must demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and a commitment to community service or extra-curricular activities at Langara College. The recipient of this Scholarship cannot also be recipient of The Right Honourable Don Mazankowski Scholarship. (Spring)

INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a student who has completed the full first term of the International Business Program, is enrolled in the second term, and demonstrates academic achievement. (Spring)

JENNIFER PROSSER WADE BUSINESS SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a second-year Bachelor of Business student who has contributed to the ongoing learning and growth of fellow students.  The recipient must have completed a minimum of 30 credits and no more than 60 credits towards their Bachelor of Business Administration Degree and have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5. (Fall)

KEITH MURRAY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a student enrolled in the fourth year of the Marketing Management concentration of the BBA program with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.33. The recipient must show a demonstrated interest and commitment to extra-curricular and athletic activities either within Langara College or in the greater community.  Preference will be given to students who are known to be hardworking, reliable, of high integrity, enthusiastic and supportive of fellow learners. (Spring)

LANGARA SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT, EXCELLENCE IN BUSINESS STRATEGY AWARD is awarded to the team of Langara School of Management students achieving the highest overall grade in BUSM 4300.  The recipients must be enrolled in BUSM and participating in the Applied Project.

MARKETING MANAGEMENT PROGRAM SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to the student with the highest GPA in the final 30 credits of the Marketing Management concentration in the BBA. Students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5.

MICHAEL SHARZER SCHOLARSHIP FOR BUSINESS PRESENTATION SKILLS recognizes outstanding achievement by Langara College Business students.  The two students achieving the highest mark in each section of BUSM 1500 (Business Presentation Skills), min of 85%, will present to a panel of judges composed of faculty in the BBA program.  The panel will then determine the top presenter.  The recipient must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. (Fall)

RIGHT HONOURABLE DON MAZANKOWSKI SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a student who has completed the third year (90 credits) and is registered in the 4th year of the BBA Program.  It is awarded to the student who has demonstrated outstanding academic achievement in the International Business Management concentration of the BBA Program.  When more than one student has achieved academic excellence, additional criteria of leadership and community involvement will be considered. (Fall)

SCOTIABANK BUSINESS SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to recognize academic excellence by a graduate in the Accounting concentration on the BBA program.  It is awarded to the student with the highest GPA in the final 30 credits of the Accounting concentration of the BBA Degree program.  The recipient must have a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA. (Summer)

SOCIETY OF NOTARIES PUBLIC OF BRITISH COLUMBIA SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a student who has completed or enrolled in an International Business Law course, who has shown an exceptional work ethic and who made a significant contribution to the program or the school. (Fall)

WOMEN IN FINANCE SCHOLARSHIPS recognizes top female students registered in the BBA program.

1) Awarded to a second-year BBA student enrolled in the Accounting Management concentration who has completed more than 30 university transfer credits but less than 60 university transfer credits.  The recipient must also have the highest grade in FMGT 2474 (Financial Management II) (Fall)

2) Awarded to a fourth year BBA student enrolled in the Accounting Management concentration that has the highest grade in INTB 4220, International Financial Management. (Fall)

XEROX CANADA BUSINESS SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a graduating student with the highest GPA in the final 30 credits of the Business Management Concentration in the BBA program.  The recipient must have a minimum GPA of 3.5. (Spring)

 

NUTRITION AND FOOD SERVICE MANAGEMENT

COMPLETE PURCHASING SERVICES NUTRITION AND FOOD SERVICES MANAGEMENT SCHOLARSHIP recognizes outstanding achievement by a student enrolled in the Nutrition and Food Services Management Program at Langara College.  It is awarded to a student enrolled in a minimum of three (3) courses with the best combined marks in courses with a purchasing focus (FRSV 1213 & FSRV 4324). (Spring)

MARGARET OTTEM SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a student graduating from the Nutrition and Food Service Management Program who has demonstrated the greatest interest, effort and progression in the development of their supervisory and management skills, from the first to the second year of the program.  (Summer)

PACIFIC SOCIETY OF NUTRITION MANAGEMENT SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to a Nutrition and Food Service Management Program student who has completed all first-year courses in the Nutrition and Food Service Management Program with a strong academic standing.  The recipient must also have demonstrated dedication and enthusiasm in the food service industry.  The successful recipient must be a member of the PSNM, be working in the food service industry, be enrolled in at least two second-year courses (6 credits) and have been enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits in one of the past two semesters. (Fall)
