Time Management
Learn tips on managing your time for the semester and how to budget time for classes, studying and leisure activities. Topics such as procrastination, attitudes toward studying and study tips are also discussed.

Career Planning
This workshop reviews the latest forecasts for the economy of the 21st century. Of particular importance are one's learning abilities and whether these are compatible with today's economy. Techniques of exploring one's career interests as well as potential careers will be discussed; a number of exercises will be provided. This workshop will also be using the Internet for career planning and exploration.

Speed Reading
This is a practical hands-on workshop that teaches you to read faster and to master larger 'chunks' of information in shorter periods of time. This workshop incorporates the latest research in reading strategies. Exercises will include eye movement training, ''chunk'' reading, scanning, probing techniques, etc. Note that stduents MUST bring their own classroom textbooks.

Notetaking Strategies
In this workshop, we will focus on a variety of strategies for taking good notes. We will also briefly discuss how our memory system takes in information and how effective note taking can facilitate the learning process.

Learning & Memory
Learn about the most recent research on the human brain, the process of memory and how it can help you study. There will be some general techniques and exercises to imporve your memory for your course work and exams. Specific memory tips are also provided for students. Overcoming Procrastination
Do you often avoid doing papers and assignments until the last minute and then rush to get them finished the night before the deadline? Procrastination is one of the most common difficulties faced by students. During this workshop, we will discuss the causes for procrastination and explore strategies for overcoming this problem.

Concentration & Mastery Learning
This workshop focuses on the latest research findings with respect to student attitudes to learning goals and ability (or 'intelligence'). Students are given specific techniques (e.g. Mastery Learning) that can enhance focus and concentration, leading to a significant increase in academic performance.

Brain, Emotions, Health
This workshop will explore the relationship between the brain and emotions, and how this relationship affects health. Recent research has been able to link various emotions to specific areas of the brain. Various techniques have been developed by resesarchers which can result in greater concentration and emotional focus. These techniques will be reviewed in the workshop. Concentration and 'emotional intelligence' can have profoundly positive effects on overall health.

In this workshop, you will learn a simple technique to help you shift from passive to active reading. We will examine how active reading aids and note taking promotes better retention of course material.

Stress Management
Are you stressed? You're not alone! Stress is an unavoidable part of life. Ironically the natural systems that your body has to cope can make it harder to deal with today's stressors. During this workshop, you will learn about the process that cause stress, and about how you can reduce and manage the stress in your life. This workshop will also include a relaxation exercise.
