Waitlisting Procedures

Summer Semester 2012 (May - August, 2012)

CHECK FOR OFFERS EVERY DAY

You must check for offers daily. From May 7 - May 11, you will need to check twice daily (See the Waitlist Offer Schedule below for more details). If you miss an offer you will be dropped from the waitlist and the offer will go to the next student.

Three quick steps to check for offers and confirm you want to remain on the waitlist

1. Log into myLangara
2. Click on 'Registration'
3. Click on 'Currently Waitlisted Courses'

Note: Checking the 'Currently Waitlisted Courses' page automatically confirms that you want to remain on all waitlists.

Waitlist Offer Schedule:

NOTE: This information is subject to change. Check regularly for updated information.

March 26 - May 6, 2012:

1. Offers go out each day at 1330 hours except for the dates the registration system is closed or restricted (April 6 -9 and April 21 - 25, 2012).
2. You have until 1200 hours (noon) the next day to accept the offer by registering for the course.

Online (Section WA1) Courses

The waitlist system for these sections (WA1 only) will cease on May 6, 2012. If you are waitlisted for a section WA1 (online) course on this date, you should contact the instructor on the first day of classes, May 7, 2012.

May 7 - May 11, 2012:

1. Offers go out twice a day at 0600 hours and 1330 hours
2. Students receiving offers at 0600 hours must register before 1200 hours on the same day.
   Students receiving offers at 1330 hours must register before 2100 hours on the same day.
3. Waitlisting ends on May 11, 2012. No offers will go out after 1330 hours on this day.

Waitlist FAQs

What is a confirmation period?
When you check for offers you will notice a "Confirmation Period". If you don’t confirm that you want to remain on a waitlist during these periods then you will be dropped from the waitlist, even if you haven’t missed an offer. It is strongly recommended that you check for offers daily (twice daily from May 7 - 11). If you are doing this, then you won’t have to worry about confirmation periods.

Where do I go to see if I have an offer?
Follow the ‘three quick steps’ above. An offer will be clearly indicated on your 'Currently Waitlisted Courses' screen.

How do I register in an offered course?
If you have an offer to register in a waitlisted course, simply click on ‘Register Add/Drop’ and register in the course within the time frames listed in the Waitlist Offer Schedule (see above). If you do not accept the offer it will go to the next student and you will be dropped from the waitlist.

What are my chances of registering in a course I’m waitlisted for?
Unfortunately, this is impossible to predict and varies widely based on a number of factors.

Do I have to pay tuition for waitlisted courses?
No. You do not owe any tuition for any waitlisted courses.
