Latin American Studies
The Latin American Studies program is for anyone interested in this geographically and culturally diverse region with its rich history and contemporary significance. The two-year Diploma or Associate of Arts Degree program is broad-based and interdisciplinary, and offers you a wide range of courses with a focus on Latin America to choose from.
In a rapidly globalizing world in which our societies and economies are increasingly intertwined and interdependent, there is growing demand for people with such international knowledge and understanding. Introductory core courses are team taught by instructors from different backgrounds, and focus on the history, culture and political economy of Latin America.
Elective courses include art history, archaeology, anthropology, history, geography, political science, economics, Spanish language and literature. A field school is held in Latin America from time to time.
