Academic Requirements

Domestic Applicants: BC Grade 12 Graduation (or equivalent) or 19 years of age or older
International Applicants: BC Grade 12 Graduation (or equivalent)

English Language Requirement

Category 3

Additional Requirements

  • Resumé
  • Audition 
  • Letter of intent 
  • Interview with program faculty member

Applicant Notes

  • A successful audition(in-person or tape) and/or an interview is required.
  • Your letter of intent will cite your goals in joining the Film Arts program
  • While all qualified applicants will be considered, preference is given to candidates who have completed 60 credits of post-secondary study in a field related to their area of interest and who have demonstrated a commitment to pursuing a career in the film industry.
  • Admission to a program does not guarantee registration into required courses.
  • Students will be required to pay materials fees in addition to tuition. See the Course Schedule for material fee information.
  • Students will be required to purchase additional materials for their productions.

Appliant Notes

  • positive assessment of a video portfolio (digital file, URL such as YouTube or DVD) to which the applicant has contributed in a key creative role of director, actor, cinematographer, or editor (Hard copies of video portfolio will not be returned.)

  • A positive assessment of a written portfolio. Portfolio of an original screenplay or part of screen play, written by the applicant (minimum ten pages, maximum twenty-four pages).
