Chinook Business

The Chinook Business Program is a two-year business diploma program, which was initiated by the UBC First Nations House of Learning and UBC Commerce Department to provide Aboriginals with marketing or management training, in order to prepare them for First Nations business opportunities.

Open only to those of Aboriginal descent, students can take their first two years at Langara College, or other BC Colleges, focusing on practical career-based courses in the Business or Financial Management programs, rather than on the theoretical-based courses which most universities require. Pre-Chinook skill-building courses in Math and Business Management will also be required.

Electives for this program must be chosen from First Nations studies. Students will be involved in some courses with students from other partnership Colleges, and it will take part in a paid summer internship between years one & two.

This initiative has received encouragement and support from BC Gas and private donors.
