Langara Design students bring Holiday Cheer

December 18, 2009

Langara College's Design Formation students have been busy this holiday season. They adorned the walls of Langara College with snowy white paper wreaths in early December and held a campus exhibit Sweet + Simple, a celebration of Christmas candy, which looked at the ingredients of holiday treats.

Now, the Design Formation students have brought their creative flair to Chinatown by decorating the Peking Lounge furniture shop. On December 17th, their design was chosen by members of the Chinatown Business Improvement Association Society (VCBIA) as the winner in Chinatown's first seasonal window display contest. Their achievement is featured in both the Vancouver Sun and Metro News on Friday, December 18, 2009.

The Design Formation program (formerly Display+Design) merges the design disciplines of spatial formation and communication design. This challenging area of design bridges architecture, industrial design, interior design and graphic design. Students become familiar with a wide-ranging skill set that can be applied to everything from retail display to exhibit design to environmental graphic design, or as a basis for further study in design.
