Vancouver, BC - Langara College would like to congratulate author and Langara English Department instructor Aaron Bushkowsky who was shortlisted for the 2015 Stephen Leacock Medal for Humour, Canada’s top humour-writing prize.

Bushkowsky was recognized for his latest novel, Curtains for Roy, which shares the story of a burned out playwright who accompanies his best friend, a terminally ill director, to the Okanagan for a final summer of wine tasting, only to end up on the set of a doomed Shakespeare production at a winery.

“It was a tremendous honour to be shortlisted for this award which showcases the works of some of Canada’s best writers,” said Bushkowsky.

“We are so proud of Aaron’s nomination for this prestigious award,” added Julie Longo, Dean, Faculty of Arts. “Like many of our faculty members, Aaron is a successful writer; he shares his craft with Langara students in English and Theatre Arts.”

Bushkowsky’s novel, Curtains for Roy, was named runner-up with the 2015 Medal being awarded to Toronto novelist, Terry Fallis for his book No Relation at a ceremony on 30 April. To learn more about Aaron and his novel, you can read a recent blog post by The Province.
