Vancouver, BC - The Langara Falcons women's soccer team has qualified for the CCAA National Soccer Championships after winning silver at the PACWEST Provincial Championships in Squamish over the weekend.

After defeating the Douglas College Royals 2-1 in extra time in the semifinals, the Falcons lost a tight game to the VIU Mariners with a final score of 1-0.  Langara's Kelsa Lefebrve was named Player of the Game in the semifinals, and Langara's Katie Inkster was named the PACWEST Provincial Tournament Top Defender.

By finishing PACWEST league play with a record of 7-3-5, the team earned a 3rd-place league finish. They will be representing PACWEST as the #7 seed in the National Tournament being held November 5th-8th in Medicine Hat, Alberta.

This will be the fourth trip to the National Championships for Head Coach Ryan Birt, who has won the national title in three of those tournaments. “I am so happy for this group of athletes, who have faced some incredible adversity this season both on and off the field, to have this tremendous experience,” says Birt. “I feel that this team is peaking at the right time as we head into Nationals, and am confident in their abilities to compete with any team in the country.”
