Langara PLUS is a unique program designed specially for international students at Langara. The Langara PLUS program allows students to create a record of the extra-curricular activities they have attended, which may then be used to enhance your university or employment applications.
Eligibility
All international students registered at Langara College are eligible to participate.
How it works
- Apply for a Langara PLUS passport in the IE office (A107). The passport is free, and will be processed within three business days.
- Participate in workshops and events at Langara College.
- Fill your Langara PLUS passport with the details of the activities you attend and have the facilitator of each workshop or event sign it to confirm your attendance.
- Return your Langara PLUS passport during your final semester at Langara and receive a Statement of Achievement.
Activities
Langara PLUS features four categories of activities offered through Langara College:
- Social Events – i-Cafés, cultural celebrations, i-Dinners/i-Lunches, Canadian dinners
- Recreational Activities – Badminton, bowling, basketball, hiking, i-Explore activities, i-Sport activities
- Lifestyle Workshops – Living on a Student’s Budget, Finding Housing, New to Vancouver, Finding Volunteer Opportunities, Job Search, Gift-Giving, Immigration Issues
- Study Skills Workshops (open to UT and Career program participants only) – Time Management, Writing Skills, Speed Reading, Academic Preparation, Note-Taking
All workshops and events are recorded in the Langara PLUS passport, and you collect points for each one you attend.
Statement of Achievement
To qualify for a Statement of Achievement, you must:
- Attend a sufficient number of workshops or activities and have facilitators sign your passport
- Participate in at least one activity/workshop from each of the following categories: 1. Social Events; 2. Recreational Activites; and 3. Lifestyle Workshops
- Attend a minimum of three Study Skills Workshops
There are three levels of Langara PLUS:
Bronze = 30 Langara PLUS points
Silver = 45 Langara PLUS points
Gold = 60 Langara PLUS points
The appropriate coloured seal (bronze, silver or gold) will be added to your Statement of Achievement with an indication of the number of workshops and activities you participated in.
