More students transfer to the University of British Columbia (UBC) from Langara than from any other college. Students apply for the University-transfer (Arts & Science)
program at Langara.
"Arts & Science" includes all the subject areas such as Business,
Computer Science, Engineering, History, Psychology, Sciences, etc.
Some programs such as Engineering allow students to transfer to university after completion of the first-year courses. Other programs such as Commerce & Business Studies allow students to transfer at the end of the first year or at the end of the second year. To plan programs and to select the Langara courses needed for transfer to all programs, students attend an Orientation meeting followed by a Course Planning Session with an International Student Counsellor.
University-transfer Courses
You can choose your courses from more than 700 courses that are
offered at Langara. All University-transfer courses are open to
international students but there are enrolment limits in some courses.
It is important for you to attend the Orientation meeting before your
first semester. You will receive information about the transfer program
and about the online procedure to register for your courses. You may
need to take some diagnostic tests to determine if you have
the skills and knowledge to begin specific courses immediately. You can
take these tests after the Orientation meeting.
You will then sign up for a Course Planning Session with an
International Student Counsellor. At this session, your counsellor will
help you to plan your program for the university that you want to
attend. The counsellor will also help you to choose the correct Langara
courses so you can transfer to university in the shortest time and for
the lowest cost.
