Shiatsu Therapy (CS)

Overview

Healing with touch may be the oldest and simplest form of health care. The Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine, a Chinese medical text written during the Han dynasty (206 BCE – 220 CE), recommends 'breathing exercises, massage of skin and flesh, and exercises of hands and feet" as the appropriate treatment for paralysis, chills, and fever. It was one of the principal methods of relieving pain for Greek and Roman physicians. Julius Caesar was said to have been given a daily massage to treatneuralgia.

Shiatsu, a modern system of manual therapy from Japan, helps restore health and relieve pain by way of pressure to the body’s energy flows and key acupuncture points. It has been called “acupuncture without needles” as it provides many of the same benefits of that more ancient system by way of its simple and yet powerful approach to treatment.

Becoming a shiatsu therapist will enable you to change your life path and have a positive impact on the lives of others. Typically, students who attend our program want to develop and use the power of healing touch, and are eager to explore and learn about the eastern way of balancing body, mind and spirit as a means to achieving optimum health and happiness.  They want to integrate western medical knowledge and the wisdom of eastern medicine into a professional health care practice that offers the best of both worlds to their clients.
