Overview
Discover the intriguing world of body intelligence and how it functions in Cranial Sacral Therapy (CST). Restrictions in the cranial sacral system can cause dysfunction on physical and emotional levels. Learn the many benefits and principles of CST including the palpation skills to identify tissues in the body, cranial sacral rhythm, fascial traction, and hand placements for decompression techniques.
Fascia is found throughout the human body. It penetrates and surrounds muscles, bones, organs, nerves, and blood vessels. It is a continuous, three-dimensional web of tissue that extends from head to toe, from front to back, from inside to outside.
Fascia is responsible for maintaining structural integrity, providing support and protection, and acts as a shock absorber. Restrictions in the body system can be the result of various types of trauma to the body, surgical procedures, and chronic pain conditions. CST is a profound and gentle healing art that supports the body’s natural capacity for self repair by freeing fascial restrictions and dysfunction.
Using gentle touch while the client is fully clothed, therapists work with the body’s innate inclination toward health to:
- improve the function of the nervous system
- reduce headaches
- increase mobility and range of motion.
The program provides you with a theoretical and functional understanding of CST and teaches the therapeutic manual skills needed based on anatomy and physiology.
CST is an increasingly popular modality requested by clients, and practiced by health care professionals in the field of massage therapy, physiotherapy, chiropractic, and nursing.
