  How to Apply to DCEP

Note: We are currently accepting applications for our 2009/10 program. The application deadline is May 15, 2009. Please ensure your application package is complete prior to the deadline.

There is a limit to the number of applicants we can accept so get your application in early! Qualified candidates are accepted on a first-come first-served basis.

To apply to the Dietetic Canadian Experience Program (DCEP), please provide the following to Langara College.

1. Complete the DCEP application form (click here for a PDF version of the application form)
   Note: You need to have Adobe Reader installed on your computer to read this file. To download a copy, go to http://www.adobe.com.
2. A letter of application explaining the attributes you possess that will make you a good candidate for the Dietetic Canadian Experience Program (DCEP).
3. Current resume
4. Transcripts
5. Internship Summary - a written description of the duration of each area of practice in the internship completed, and if possible, the program's brochure or practical training course descriptions.
6. Approval, in writing, from the registrar of the College of Dietitians of British Columbia to participate in DCEP. This letter is to be sent directly from the College to DCEP.
7. Demonstrate profinciency in the English language
   
   English requirements for DCEP/GNS as of June 1, 2008

• Graduate from a recognized degree program at an accredited university at which English is the principal language of instruction in country where English is the principal language ;

Or

• Achieve the competence standard indicated by one of the tests of English language proficiency that evaluates skills in listening, reading, speaking and writing listed below.

Language Tests that satisfy the English language requirement for DCEP

• IELTS 7.0 with no part less than 6.5
• TOEFL (Internet based) Minimum overall score 88 with a minimum of Reading 20; Listening 22; Writing: 20; and Speaking: 22

Once accepted into the program, please complete and send us proof of the following:

1. If you are required to have a Visa or other approval from Canadian authorities to participate in this program, send us copies of these forms. Otherwise, we need proof of Canadian citizenship.
2. Provide proof of completion of Food Safe I.
3. Current Criminal Record Check completed at a RCMP office within Canada.
4. Results from a tuberculosis test, completed within 6 months of application.

Once the application package is complete, each applicant will participate in an interview. The goal of the interview will be to confirm your desire and suitability to participate in this intensive program, and to discuss where the most suitable location(s) for placement opportunities may be.
