| Wayne Palmer-Haenisch began his passion for food and design in 1979. Graduating
from the Vancouver Vocational Institute School of Cooking, Wayne
spent the next 10 years working with and learning from some of
the top chefs in Vancouver. During this time he began to hone
his own sense of style and culinary technique, and found that
visual presentation was one area among many in which he loves
to experiment.
Wayne also pursued his second passion - photography, and in 1989
studied through what would later become the Langara Certificate
Photography Program. At that time, he had never considered the
possibility of food styling, however, once he became aware of
the challenges of styling for visual design, he became hooked,
and so launched his current profession.
His work in food styling has involved him in many different mediums,
including cookbooks, packaging, television commercials national
and local advertising campaigns and editorial pieces. He works
regularly with Vancouver's top food photographers, and is well
known for his meticulous and stylistic approach.
The aspect of styling that appeals most to Wayne is the challenge
of beginning with a raw idea and marrying it with the skills of
the photographer to bring to life an image that best expresses
the philosophy of the client. |
