Overview
Print and Web: design, production, writing, editing
Learn graphic design, make a magazine, create logos, ads and print materials, and develop websites. Complete the diploma program in only 12 months. Enter the publishing industry with a portfolio geared to your areas of interest.
The Publishing diploma program teaches students to use the latest publishing tools and techniques in a collaborative environment that cultivates the professional attitudes and creativity needed to excel in a publishing career. See specific admission requirements.
Students develop the comprehensive knowledge of print and digital publishing needed to excel in a publishing career. They produce high-quality, tangible and marketable products, such as Pacific Rim Magazine. This 64-page, glossy, colour publication is distributed each May in The Globe and Mail.
The program provides intensive, hands-on publishing experience that is nearly impossible to gain on one’s own. Alumni work in many publishing and design fields, including their own businesses. To learn how the publishing industry values the program, read what grads have to say.

Program Updates
The Publishing Program faculty, in consultation with the Publishing Advisory Committee of industry professionals, has undertaken a review and revision of the curriculum, resulting in minor changes to the program. There is no change to the fall semester, with program learning outcomes remaining substantially the same. Changes begin January 2010.
A new 3-credit course, Advanced Typography (PUBL 1157) has been added for January 2010. The Electronic Communications course has been revised and moved to the summer semester, increasing from 4 credits to 6 credits, to permit instruction of the increasingly complex Dreamweaver software and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). The summer Introduction to New Media (Digital Video, PUBL 1230) course has been discontinued.
