Advanced Typography (CS)

Overview

The Advanced Typography program, one of only a few in the world, aims to provide the Lower Mainland area and beyond with a thorough and professional intermediate to advanced education in typography. Our classes incorporate typography with design and human interaction, including both digital (web pages) and physical realms (graphic and information design) as well as all aspects of typographic issues, including visual applications of multilingual concerns. As a result of this teaching approach, graduates of our program will be at an advanced level in the profession with an education near to equivalent with graduate studies in Graphic Design or Typography.

Our program is aimed at adult students who are already in the design profession and wish to strengthen their typographic skills. Upon completion, some students might wish to alter their career direction to focus more on typography while others might prefer to stay in their current profession and apply their abilities towards the typographic elements within their own graphic design projects.

The Advanced Typography program is the only part-time studies program in North America to focus solely on typography. We aim to provide the Lower Mainland and beyond with a thorough, modern and professional intermediate to advanced education in typography, or typography within the context of graphic design. Our curriculum is flexible to the needs of each student with diverse and cumulative learning outcomes as the students encounter print, digital, spatial, and motion-based applications of the profession in addition to theoretical, historical, and practical concerns.
