Applying for a Study Permit
Students applying from overseas are advised to check with the Canadian Embassy in their country as to the processing time for a Study Permit (formerly known as Student Authorization/Visa).
- Contact the Canadian Embassy or Consulate nearest you for a Study Permit application package.
- Take the completed Study Permit form, Letter of Acceptance from Langara College, valid passport and proof of sufficient funds for study in Canada (along with any other required documents) to the Canadian Embassy or Consulate nearest you.
- Please note: Applicants from some countries are required to complete a medical examination. Check with your local Canadian Embassy or Consulate.
- The Embassy will review your documents. If your application for a Study Permit is accepted, the Embassy will issue a Study Permit or an introduction letter.
- Upon arrival in Canada, be sure to show your Study Permit or introduction letter to the immigration officer on duty at the Vancouver International Airport.
- Please note: If you have an introduction letter be sure to show it to the immigration officer (even if you are not asked for it). Do not pass through immigration without receiving a Study Permit.
- For students applying to the Langara Homestay Program, airport pick-up service is available. Learn more about Langara Homestay Program.
Thank your for your interest. We hope to see you soon!
