Electronic Music Production ( Full-Time)

The Electronic Music Production Program trains producers on a number of levels, from individuals who will be writing, recording, and producing their own work, to individuals who will be recording, and producing other artists’ works, to composers who will be writing, recording, and producing work for commercial purposes such as scores for film, TV, and games. The recording industry has changed significantly with the ongoing development of recording and producing software, such as Cubase that now allow producers to work independently outside of the studio environment. Often you will find producers only using commercial studios to finalize the mix. The other instruments, vocals, effects, and mixing, will be taken care of outside of the commercial studio, saving significant money for recording artists.

Electronic Music Production (Part-Time)

The courses in the part-time program are all stand-alone courses aimed at people who wish to produce their own music. Computer technology has revolutionized the music industry in so many ways, from changing the way that professional studios operate to creating an entirely new genre of home-based music production. Computer programs such as Reason, Cubase, or Ableton Live have made it possible for amateur musicians to compose, produce, mix, master, and publish very high quality music with remarkably little expense. All you need is a good PC or Mac computer, an inexpensive USB keyboard, and the software, which usually costs less than $500 per package. Programs like Propellerhead’s Reason (www.propellerheads.se) allow you to produce original music without the use of conventional instruments. You may create as many mixers, synthesizers, highly complex drum machines, and samplers that play thousands of beautiful acoustic and electronic instrument samples. Reason comes with a complete sampled array of orchestra instruments, loop players, and a mind-boggling collection of effects devices such as reverb, digital delay, vocoders, compressors, and phasers.
