Alec MacNeill Richardson Instructor+
Alec works as an editor, colourist and digital post supervisor for Rugged Media in
Vancouver. In the past decade, Alec has edited shows, music videos and
live concerts for CBC, Bravo, CityTV, Global and CMT. When he's not
stuck behind an editing desk or teaching FCP at Langara College, he
films and edits his culinary adventures for GourmetvsGourmand with his
co-conspirator Johnathon Vaughn.
Yaz Jallad Instructor+
Yaz is a Vancouver based developer currently working at Noise Digital as a Web Application Developer. Previous to this, Yaz was the lead Flash Developer for Engine Digital.
During his time freelancing, Yaz had the opportunity to work the
Vancouver Canucks on a couple social media projects—a developer/hockey
fan's dream.
Todd Sieling Instructor+
Todd is an experience designer and product manager for
interactive products. He works by a simple mission to Make Things
Better. Entering the software industry in 1998, Todd brought his degree
in English Literature and interest in linguistics first to technical
writing, then to requirements analysis and eventually to experience
design and product management roles.
Shayne Letain Instructor+
Shayne has been working in the creative industry for over 15 years. Primarily a freelance illustrator,
Shayne has also worked on projects as a designer, game developer,
animator and writer. These varied roles have allowed him to develop a
very broad view of the the industry, and the tools that drive that
industry. For over four years, Shayne has been teaching digital design
and illustration.
Ryan Ilg Instructor+
Ryan Ilg is an interactive developer specializing in browser
technologies such as XHTML, JavaScript, CSS, PHP, MySQL, among others.
He is also an avid supporter of web standards and practices. Ryan comes
with 10 years of experience building and maintaining websites. He has
established a broad amount of experience from standard static HTML
sites, to custom database driven content management systems. Ryan also
specializes in open source based technology such as Drupal and
Wordpress. These open source technologies provide clients with a tested,
reliable and expandable framework to build upon. Ryan is able to
distill technical concepts into “non-techie” language to enable
stakeholders to make the best decisions for the project.
Laurel Swenson Instructor+
Laurel
is a designer, artist and explorer of ideas. After cutting her teeth in
the music industry, then with a variety of clients in film, arts and
culture and business realms for many years, she co-founded Canister Creative Inc. as
a vessel to hold her brand development and design practice. Canister’s
focus is on serving the branding and design needs of clients within the
medical technologies, healthcare, and life sciences arenas. She has been working in the creative industry for over 16 years. Laurel
is a Certified Graphic Designer with the Graphic Designer’s Association
of Canada, holds a BFA in Critical Studies from SFU, and has a past
life as an internationally screened video artist. When she is not
working, painting, or drawing, she can be found trying to climb rocks.
Johnathon Strebly Instructor+
Johnathon
brings a diverse range of experience and knowledge from the disciplines
of photography, design and education. As head of the Electronic Media
Design, Digital Media, and Communication Arts Programs at Langara
College, Johnathon is deeply involved in the rich media available today.
As principal and creative director of his own studio, Johnathon extends
his experience in professional business practices and industry
awareness to the academic environment. Having served two terms as
President of CAPIC Vancouver and VP of Business Practices, CAPIC
National, Johnathon is proud to continue his association with
professional organizations as VP of Education for the vibrant GDC/BC
Executive Board.
Elizabeth Milton Instructor+
Elizabeth Milton is an interdisciplinary artist and
educator who is critically invested in the study of contemporary culture
and visual representation. Her performative artworks make use of
photography, video and collaboration to explore constructions of
identity. Elizabeth received an MFA in Studio Art from the University of
British Columbia (2007) and a BFA in Visual Art from Simon Fraser
University in (2003). She has instructed courses in Studio Art, Digital
Media and Visual Culture at Langara College and Emily Carr University of
Art and Design. She was a recipient of a Visual Art Development Award
(VADA) from the Contemporary Art Gallery and Vancouver Foundation
(2004). Her work has been exhibited throughout Canada and supported
through residencies at Access Gallery in Vancouver and the Banff Centre
for the Arts.
Christopher Swift Instructor+
Christopher is a designer in Vancouver and an educator
of typography, layout, InDesign and design history. The focus of both
his teaching and his design work is the pedagogical and practical
possibilities of applying cultural theory to graphic design, which
sometimes works. Chris' letterpress studio, The National Press, is
functional and absolutely not ironic.
Christine Rondeau Instructor+
As a freelance web developer,
Christine works with graphic designers to bring their design concepts to
the web. Christine uses the WordPress blogging platform to create easy
to maintain websites and online portfolios.
