Creative Writing
"I write entirely to find out what I'm thinking, what I'm looking at,
what I see, and what it means. What I want and what I fear." - Joan Didion
There
are as many reasons for writing as there are stories. And really, the reasons
don’t matter. The writing matters. If you’ve got a story to tell, we have a
course designed to help you tell it. And if you don’t have a story, we have
instructors who will help you create one. From
short stories to novels, magazine pieces to comedy sketches and plays, we have
courses for both aspiring and accomplished writers.
For the fall 2012 term, in addition to our regular offerings, we are introducing three new courses: Introduction to Magazine Writing, led by local writer Tyee Bridge, allows students a taste of the magazine writer’s world from research and writing to selling your work; Writer's Smorgasbord exposes students to a range of writing genres; and Introduction to Comedy Writing II - The Character focuses on the development of character in comedy writing. Both courses are taught by local comedy and television writer Leslie Mildiner.
If you have a desire to write, we have a course and an instructor that will enable your talent to develop the voice you hear in your head.
