WOMEN'S SOCCER SIGNS FOUR FOR 2010
The Langara College Women’s Soccer Program is pleased to announce the signing of four players for the 2010 / 11 season.  The new additions consist of two high school seniors and two college transfers.

Both high school seniors are from North Delta and play for the Surdel Sting, one of the top club teams in British Columbia. Richelle Day (Seaquam Sec.) is a 5’6” central midfield player who has an absolutely sublime touch on the ball. Day has spent time training and playing with the Total Soccer Systems travel team over the past couple of years and has developed in to one of the best central midfielders in the province. Richelle is at her best when she acts as a link player, receiving and distributing the ball.  Melanie Martin (North Delta Sec.) is a 5’8” striker / midfielder who has a heavy shot and is at her best when taking players on one vs. one in the attacking third. Martin has also spent time with the Total Soccer Systems travelling team over the past year. Coach Birt is extremely excited to have early commitments from such talented soccer players as they will add to a deep returning core of players that finished first during the 2009 / 10 regular season going undefeated at 9 wins, 0 losses and 2 ties.

The two transfers are Christine Walker (Kwantlen Polytechnic University) and Amie Lawlor (Douglas College).  Walker is a 5’10” defender that comes to the Falcons after playing two years of CIS soccer at Trinity Western University before going to Kwantlen for one year. Christine is a former BC Provincial team member and will be able to slot in at stopper or at left fullback for the graduating Chantelle Maivs. Lawlor is a 5’8” striker / midfielder that comes to the Falcons after playing three years at Douglas College. Amie is an extremely competent player who is comfortable in front of net scoring goals or playing in the midfield and providing support and keeping possession. Lawlor plays her club soccer with Coquitlam Metro Ford of the Women’s Premier League. Both of these players will provide the Falcons with some added experience and are hungry to help Langara win another BCCAA provincial and CCAA National Championship.

LIDIN PUTS TOGETHER A SEASON TO REMEMBER
It's a phrase that all athletes dread, yet every single one of them mutters it at some point. The words, "I'm done," were tattooed across Loren Lidin's consciousness for a nine-month stretch after she suffered a serious neck injury while backstopping her Langara Falcons women's soccer team last fall.
