WEEKEND SWEEP FOR THE FALCONS
This past weekend proved to be a successful one for the women's basketball team as they played host to the Columbia Bible College Bearcats and completed a two game sweep of the visitors. The Falcons defeated the Bearcats 69-52 on Friday and 69-48 on Saturday. The women were lead by 3rd year guard Stephanie Scott (pictured left) who scored 28 points on Friday. Other key contributors were Jena Riches with 15 points and Taylor Batchelor with 12 points. Saturday's game saw the Falcons lead again by Scott who scored 23. Riches and Batchelor each chipped in 13 points help push the Falcons past the Bearcats for the second straight night. The women travel to Kwantlen this coming weekend to play a single game on Friday night at 6:00pm against the Eagles.

Hosted at Langara College
Langara College is pleased to once again be the host site of the Vancity Girls’ Basketball Invitation Challenge. This extraordinary tournament will take place January 21-23, 2010 and will feature the top independent and public high school girls’ basketball teams in Vancouver! The seven teams participating include York House, Crofton House, Britannia, John Oliver, Point Grey, Kitsilano, Notre Dame and Winston Churchill. The three day tournament also includes 2-Ball and 3-point competitions and plenty of prizes and awards for participants.

THREE GAME SWEEP FOR WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
The women's basketball team completed a three game sweep at the Camosun College Winter Tournament during the holiday break. The women defeated Northwest Indian College 69-46 in their opening game of the tournament. The Falcons proceeded to defeat league rivals Capilano University by a score of 61-43, and Kwantlen Polytechnic University 72-62. The women will look to continue their winning ways as they play host to the Camosun College Chargers this coming Friday (6:00pm) and Saturday (1:00pm).

HOME OPENERS FOR BASKETBALL
The men's and women's basketball teams will be starting league play this coming weekend as they host the UNBC Timberwolves from Prince George. The double header action will take place on Friday, November 6th and Saturday, November 7th with the women playing at 6:00pm and the men at 8:00pm. Please come out and support the Falcons. |

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL ALUMNI GAME POSTPONED
The annual women's basketball alumni game which was schedule for this Saturday, September 26th has been postponed. The game will be rescheduled sometime in December or January. Alumni wishing to take part in this game are asked to contact Coach Evans at mevans@langara.bc.ca. |
