YASSINE GHOMARI NAMED BCCAA ALL-STAR
The BCCAA released it's 2009-10 all-stars this week and second year Langara Falcon Yassine Ghomari was named as a second team all-star. Yassine lead the Falcons in scoring (15 ppg), was second in rebounding (4.3 rpg), and was second in assists (2.6 apg). Follow link below for the full press release.

MEN'S BASKETBALL QUALIFIY FOR PROVINCIALS
The men's basketball team will be preparing this weeek for next weeks BCCAA Provincial Championships hosted by Vancouver Island University. The men finished in a three way tie for fourth and will face the University of British Columbia - Okanagan Heat on Thursday, March 4th at 3:00pm. The game will be broadcast on sportscanada.tv. The upcoming men's and women's basketball games against Douglas College will be broadcast live on sportscanada.tv. Please follow the link below to catch the live action. Men's basketball is at 1:30pm on Friday and Saturday followed by the women at 3:30pm.

YASSINE GHOMARI WINS ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
This past weekend, Langara hosted CBC of Abbotsford. In the first game of the double header Friday night, Ghomari paced the Falcons to 99-70 victory with a team leading 18 points.

WEEKEND SWEEP FOR THE FALCONS
This past weekend proved to be a successful one for the men's basketball team as they played host to the Columbia Bible College Bearcats and completed a two game sweep of the visitors. The Falcons defeated the Bearcats 99-70 on Friday and 70-57 on Saturday. The men were lead by 2nd year guard Yassine Ghomari (pictured left) who scored 18 points on Friday. Other key contributors were Hardeep Braich with 15 points, Karol Cybula with 14 points, Lambert Punsalan and Jeremy Butler scored 12 and 10 respectively. Saturday's game saw the Falcons lead again by Ghomari who scored 21 off the bench, while grabbing 10 rebounds to complete his double-double. Cody Cormack grabbed 11 rebounds and scored 8 points to help push the Falcons past the Bearcats for the second straight night. The men travel to Kwantlen this coming weekend to play a single game on Friday night at 8:00pm.

ELLIOT MASON SIGNS WITH LANGARA BASKETBALL FOR 2010/11
(Vancouver, BC) – The Langara College Men's Basketball program is
pleased to announce the commitment of Richmond standout Elliot Mason
(J.N. Burnett Secondary). This announcement was made today by the
Department of Athletics and Intramurals at Langara College.
Mason, who stands 6'5" and has played both small forward and point guard
this season, is currently averaging 22 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists
per game for the Breakers. “Elliot’s versatility allows him to play a
number of positions" commented Langara's Head Coach Jake McCallum. "This
coupled with his athletic ability should allow him to flourish at the
next level. He'll be a great addition to the Falcon roster."

HARDEEP BRAICH WINS ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Braich is a 5`8”, second year guard from Abbotsford. Returning for his 2nd year at Langara, Braich has asserted himself as one of Langara’s on court leaders. His work ethic, passion for the game and desire to learn are second to none and have helped him develop into a great player.

HOME OPENERS FOR BASKETBALL
The men's and women's basketball teams will be starting league play this coming weekend as they host the UNBC Timberwolves from Prince George. The double header action will take place on Friday, November 6th and Saturday, November 7th with the women playing at 6:00pm and the men at 8:00pm. Please come out and support the Falcons. |
