FALCONS GET WEEKEND SPLIT
Sept 23, 2013

jordanIn their first game of the weekend the Falcons men faced off against a powerful UBCO Heat team. The Heat got off to a strong start and quickly found themselves with a two goal lead. The Falcons seem to regroup at half time and began to develop some scoring opportunities. They put a lot of pressure on the Heat backline, but were unable to find the net. UBCO scored somewhat against the flow of play midway through the second half, on a beautiful turnaround shot that goalkeeper Noah Pawlowski had no chance on. The Falcons were finally able to capitalize on their pressure when Brett Wiens headed one in off a corner kick, and added a second goal from the head of Arved Poetter to pull within one, but time ran out and the Heat took the game 3-2.

On Sunday the Falcons faced the TRU Wolfpack. Langara got off to a much better start and carried the play for much of the first half. They were rewarded with two goals, one by Justin Sidhu and one by Carlos Marquez. In the second half the Wolfpack brought the pressure and Noah Pawlowski had to make some key stops to keep his clean sheet. Ramsey Alfantazi added another goal for the Falcons, and Langara took the game 3-0. Up next for Langara is a match with crosstown rival Kwantlen September 28th at 2:00pm at Newton Athletic Park in Surrey.

FALCONS EARN 4 POINTS
Sept 17, 2012

On Saturday afternoon the Falcons faced off againt the UBCO Heat. The match had both teams trade momentum and chances, but neither team could find an advantage and at halftime the score remained deadlocked at 0-0. In the second Langara was able to find the back of the net when Valery Romanchik got his fist goal of the season in the 63rd minute. Twenty minutes later UBCO was able to find the equalizer. The 1-1 scoreline made for a tense final 20 minutes as both team pushed to find the go ahead goal. Neither team could find it and the game ended in a 1-1 draw. On Sunday the Falcons hosted the TRU Wolpack. The intensity grew as the game wore on and neither team could find the back of the net. Finally in extra time Valery Romanchik was the Falcon's hero of the day as he broke in alone on the keeper and slotted it home. With the win the Falcons moved into third place in the PACWEST standings. The Falcon's next game is Saturday September 22 at 2:00pm against Kwantlen Polytechnic University.

OPENING WEEKEND SPLIT
Sept 10, 2012

On the first weekend of play of the PACWEST season the Falcons opened against the Vancouver Island University Marineers, last year's Provincial Champions. It was a heated affair throughout, with VIU outscoring Langara 4-2. Goal scorers for Langara were Brett Wiens, and Zaco Fuat Majeed. On Sunday the Falcons turned their attention to the Capilano University Blues. The Falcons came out of the gate hard and were rewarded in the first half with a goal from Mike Jasinski. In the second half the Falcons continued to push and extend their lead to 4-0 with goals from Ramsay Alfantazi and 2 by Brett Wiens. Capilano was able to get one back late in the half, to make the final 4-1. The Falcons next game is Saturday Sept 15, 2:00pm against UBC-O at BCIT.
