On Friday night the Falcons traveled out to Abbotsford to face the CBC Bearcats. The Bearcats managed to keep the game close in the early going with the game tied at 22 after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Falcons began to pull away with Jitinder Lhocham pouring in 11pts. Jit's big night would continue in the second half and he ended the game with 28 pts, helping the Falcons on their way to a 104-81 victory. On Saturday the Falcons faced off against the Douglas College Royals at home. The teams kept it tight going into half with the Falcons up 36-29. In the second half it was more of the same, the Royals battled, but the Falcons never gave up the lead, and ended up securing a 69-67 victory. Next up for the Falcons is an away game on Thursday Feb 9th against the Kwantlen Eagles, tip off 8:00pm.

 

TWO WIN WEEKEND

brodyThe Falcons played host to the 6-3 Capilano University Blues on Friday night, and came out firing on all cylinders as they established a 17 point lead by the end of the first quarter. The Falcons continued to push and never looked back on their way to a 94-65 victory. Top scorers for the Falcons were Jeff Chu with 22, and Gurjote Jhaj with 20. Saturday's game against the visiting Quest Kermodes was very close in the early going, with the Falcons taking a 1 ponit lead into halftime. In the third quarter the Falcons exploded offensively, scoring 36 points. The final score was 99-81. High scorers for the night were Gurjote Jhaj with 37 and Jitinder Lohcham with 20. The two victories vaulted the Falcons from sixth to fourth place in the PacWest standings.

 

 

 

FALCONS DEFEAT CHARGERSNoor

Friday night saw the Falcons matched up against Camosun College. The men jumped out to a quick lead and thanks to point production from Devin McMurtry, and Gurj Jhaj, the Falcons took a 35-20 lead into halftime. Camosun came out in the third quarter with renewed resolve and cut into the lead eventually drawing even early in the fourth quarter. The teams traded baskets down the stretch and it came down to Brody Greig putting in the game winner. The final score was 68-66. On Saturday the men hosted VIU, currently the 6th ranked team in the country. The Falcons lost their starting point guard Brody Greig in the first minute with an ankle injury, despite the loss they kept the game tight going into half tied with the Marineers 31-31. In the third quarter VIU managed to pull away and earned an eight point lead going into the fourth. It would remain that way the rest of the way and the Falcons fell 72-63 to the Marineers.

 

 

FALCONS WIN AGAINST EAGLES

GurjoteThe Langara Falcons started strong Thursday night against the Kwantlen Eagles, opening up a 10-0 lead before allowing the Eagles to score their first basket. The Eagles fought back to cut the lead to 8 by half time 36-28. In the second half the Falcons re-asserted themselves scoring 60 points on their way to a 94-64 win. Some strong performers on the night were Gurjote Jhaj who had 34 points, Brody Greig who contributed 10 assists and 11 rebounds, and Noor Mann who came off the bench to score 8 points. The team now has a long break for exams and holidays, and will be back in action January 14th when they face UNBC in Prince George.

  The Men's Basketball team is excited to host their home opener on Saturday Nov. 26th. The Falcons will face the CBC Bearcats with Tip off at 8:00pm. Langara will be sporting their new look Jerseys, and the first 50 fans to arrive will receive a Falcons T-shirt, so come out and support your Falcons!
