Recycling

Langara College encourages recycling. There are easily accessible recycling containers located throughout the campus.

We recycle the following items:

  • Refundable drink containers. This includes glass, plastic, metal, and tetra pak ready-to-drink beverage containers. The money generated (over $900 per year) is funneled into student bursaries.
  • Cafeteria cooking oil is recycled into bio-diesel.
  • Cardboard and paper.
  • At an additional cost to the College, we recycle:
  •
    • Fluorescent tubes and compact fluorescent bulbs. The tubes and bulbs are recycled down to their components for reuse.
    • Batteries for fire alarms, emergency lighting, computers, laptops, and audio-visual equipment .

Our recycling efforts also include composting & biodegradables.

Future Plans
The college is continues to set up programs to divert as many recyclables from the landfill as possible.
