About Langara ยป Strategic Plan

Engagement

The Strategic Plan is the roadmap that Langara College will travel over the next 5 years (2009-2013). It was crafted by the College community and is a statement of our core mission, values, and goals. We will build, strengthen and enhance our programs, services, and community based on this foundation.

To succeed, the College will need to incorporate the goals and objectives outlined in the Plan into our day-to-day operations. We encourage you to bring the Plan to life in your department.

Here are some suggestions:

  1. Distribute a copy of the Plan to everyone in your area. A PDF of the Plan is available here.

  2. Organize a time and place for your area to discuss the Plan.
    • Schedule a meeting
Consider how the Plan aligns with your department’s goals and priorities. Questions to ask: How do I envision our department within the next four years? What role does our department have in enabling the College to achieve its overall vision? How will the Plan help us achieve our goals and priorities?
    • Invite the President to your next meeting. David Ross welcomes the opportunity to attend your department or division meeting to discuss the Plan.
    • Plan a retreat
The Langara School of Management organized a day-long off-campus event. Spearheaded by Peter Norwood (Department Chair) and Stephanie Koonar (Instructor/External Relations), 13 members of the department and relevant support services attended the retreat. They discussed department goals and objectives and formulated a departmental strategic plan.
  3. After discussing the Plan, set a timeline and milestones to achieve. Follow up and check-in to see if you are on track.
  4. Share your accomplishments with others at the College.

Remember no idea is too small or too big. While the Plan's vision is clear, the means of achieving those goals are up to you. We look forward to seeing how different divisions, departments, and individuals translate the Plan into action.
