Supervisor, Accounts Receivable

INTERNAL POSTING ONLY !

Permanent, Full-Time

Start Date: February 13, 2012

The Supervisor, Accounts Receivable is responsible for maintaining Student Accounts and the account receivable function within the College. This position performs the day-to-day accounts receivable transactions related to Student Accounts, including cashiering and providing customer service. Also performs account receivable functions related to invoicing/billing, account reconciliation and accounting administrative tasks. In conjunction with the Financial Accounting Manager, this position provides supervision and training to unit staff. Performs other related duties or projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience

  • Gr. 12 completion including up to one year of post-secondary courses in accounting and business management, from an accredited post-secondary institution.
  • Four (4) years of recent related experience in accounting within an integrated finance accounting environment, preferably in a post-secondary institution.
  • Supervisory experience required.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Knowledge of financial accounting and bookkeeping processes.
  • Knowledge of post-secondary admission and registration processes, financial aid processes, and tuition fee structures.
  • Knowledge and experience in handling large volumes of cash and reconciliation procedures.

Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to communicate courteously and effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and provide customer service to administration, faculty, staff, students, external agencies, and members of the general public.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to perform basic and intermediate arithmetical calculations with accuracy (i.e. add, subtract, multiply, divide, and calculate percentages and interest charges).
  • Ability to pay attention to detail and enter data accurately and efficiently.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work effectively with a minimum of supervision and within a team environment.
  • Ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in the use of computer applications including word processing (MS Word), spreadsheets (Excel), and email.
  • Keyboarding skills at 40 wpm.

Salary Range: $41,198 – $47,095 Annualized (Pay Grade 21)

Employee Group: CUPE

Hours & Days of Work: 8:30 a.m. - 4:45 p.m. Monday to Friday; however, hours may vary according to the needs of the department.  This position is subject to the compressed workweek schedule.
