Subject Area: Bachelor of Performing Arts degree program
Capilano University, Douglas College, Langara College and Vancouver Community College are seeking qualified instructors to teach the following course in their collaborative Bachelor of Performing Arts degree program, to be offered in the Summer 2012 semester (May – August) at Capilano University.
Nature & Scope of Work
To instruct an interdisciplinary group of fourth‐year students ‐ BPAC 403: Studies in Interdisciplinary Performance (6 credits; may be team‐taught)
- in the methodologies and practices of interdisciplinary creation in Canada and abroad;
- in the creation, development and performance of short, original, interdisciplinary performance pieces;
- in the exploration stages of devising an original, interdisciplinary production; and
- in the extension of their experiential knowledge of one or more performing arts discipline(s) beyond their specific discipline.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A minimum of 10 years’ professional collaborative experience in the performing arts industry;
- A minimum of 10 years’ professional experience as a deviser and/or director of original, interdisciplinary productions, as a director, musical director or composer;
- A primary professional background in theatre, musical theatre and/or music;
- Demonstrated and recent experience in directing and/or leading an original, professional collaborative creation that includes interdisciplinary elements;
- A Master’s degree, preferably in a performing arts discipline, or equivalent educational and professional experience in the performing arts industry; and
- Experience teaching in a post‐secondary or professional arts program is preferred.
Length of appointment: May 1, 2012 - April 30, 2013 (1 Year)
Start Date: May 1, 2012
Salary Range: Salary placement is on an instructors’ salary scale in accordance with qualifications and experience.
